How to Wear Knee High Converse with Skinny Jeans
Converse high-tops today are worn more as a fashion statement than a state of the art basketball shoe due to their excellent reputation with the haute couture crowd; websites like thechicfashionista.com declare that Converse high-tops are a very good investment because they'll never go out of style.A new trend in women’s fashions is the pairing of the venerable Converse high-tops with skinny jeans; a look favored by everyone from high-school teenage girls to Hollywood starlets.
This should be done with care, however, as there is a specific way of wearing Converse high-tops with skinny jeans Since their introduction all the way back in 1917, Converse high-tops have remained in the public consciousness to this day. Initially marketed as a basketball shoe, Converse high-tops have never gone out of style and are still one of the Converse Corporation's best selling models.
The key to achieving the right look is to lace your Converse high-tops correctly. Start with the tip of the shoelace inserted through the top left hole, and continue in the same manner from top to bottom. Repeat this process with a second shoelace in the top right hole.
Firmly holding each shoelace tip, pull both toward you. This has the effect of creating a lateral shoelace band across the top holes of your high-tops. Pay extra attention to the lengths of the shoelaces; make sure both right and left ends are equal. Now hold the left shoelace at its tip and pull diagonally across the right-side hole second from the top. Insert the left end shoelace tip into this hole and continue the process all the way down.
Pull the right end of the shoelace diagonally across the left hole that is second from the top. Slip it into the hole and continue in the same way going down. Keep going until four holes on both sides are laced, making a grand total of eight holes laced and eight holes left unlaced.
Put on a pair of socks, it's time to wear your shoes! Start by putting on one shoe and pulling its laces towards you, tightening them. If you feel the shoe hugging against your foot you're on the right track. Move the shoe's tongue away from you.
Now for the finishing touches! Tie the shoelaces in a bow underneath the shoe's tongue - the bow's knot should be snug but not tight. Pull the tongue back towards you - depending on your preference the shoe's tongue may lie flat against your foot or sticks straight up. Some even like to have their shoe's tongue sit askew.
Pull down the bottoms of your skinny jeans so they conceal your socks - you're all done! You are now in the cutting edge of fashion with your Converse High-Tops and skinny jeans combo.
